save a bit, reserve, preserve, rejuvenate and conserve invaluable resources
sasrai-Movement needs millions of volunteer across the globe. Help the movement that helps the Earth, Environment and Humanity
sasrai is global movement. A Movement to reserve, preserve, rejuvenate and conserve. It is an appeal — appeal to all those who care for the future generation; who care for the state of the world. Appeal to all, across the globe irrespective of class, sect, race, caste, creed and ethnicity. Let us adopt a missionary zeal, a sporting spirit to reserve, preserve, rejuvenate and conserve the invaluable resources for our next generation.
sasrai-Movement running since April 14, 2004. It is an unstructured Movement. We believe enthusiastic and altruistic persons across the globe will gravitate together to fine tune models to strengthen sasrai — the movement — among the people of each corner of the globe. We believea coordinated and collaborative effort based on a framework of action, can offer us a smooth road to triumph. There are people; very eager, waiting in the wings for a cue to start and promote such a movement.
Yes, each and everyone have the freedom to design a program within the contextual relevance of a country, community, ecology and environment. We have no doubt that voices from a million corners shall contribute to a world policy to reserve, preserve, rejuvenate and conserve invaluable resources – air, water, oil, electricity, gas, time and forests.
It should not be difficult to save a little. Little drops of water make the mighty ocean. Prudence can save huge resources for our children and descendants. If the 140 million people of Bangladesh use just a liter of water less per capita daily (cpd) there would be, at 200 liter cpd, enough water saved for two and half cities the size of Dhaka. Ponder for a while the global saving from frugal use of resources. The little saving at an individual level can meet the needs of those who do not have enough of anything accept poverty. In this little step in frugal living lies the difference between destruction and future survival of mother earth and mankind.
We appeal to all — researchers, intelligentsia, educationists, journalists, economists, teachers and leaders — to initiate and promote a movement for a frugal life style. Let us be introspective and ask ourselves, when using anything, “Is it of utmost need for me or how many inhabitants in the world are able to use this amount right now?”
Let us come together to bring attitudinal and behavioral change among all people on the use of resources. Some day we may be able to easily withstand disasters like cyclone, hurricane, earthquake or even tidal surge. But would it be so easy to create safe air, potable water or any other natural resources?
We welcome/solicit your suggestion, discussion, dialogue +++ +++

How can you control climate change
Climate change is a global problem, and yet each one of us has the power to make a difference. Even small changes in our daily behavior can help prevent greenhouse gas emissions without affecting our quality of life. In fact, they can help save us money.
Taking the time to flip a simple switch or turn off your tap may seem insignificant, but if everyone took the time to do it every day, the results would be considerable. Review these tips for ways to incorporate energy-saving measures into your everyday routine.
Switch off the lights when you don’t need them. Switching off 5 lights in hallways and rooms in your house when you don’t need them can save around € 60 a year and avoid about 400kg of CO2 emissions per year.
Use energy-saving light bulbs: just one can reduce your lighting costs by up to € 60 and avoid 400kg of CO2 emissions over the lifetime of the bulb – and they last up to 10 times longer than ordinary light bulbs. Energy-saving bulbs are more expensive to buy, but cheaper over their life span.
Do not leave appliances on standby – use the “on/off” function on the machine itself. A TV set that’s switched on for 3 hours a day (the average time Europeans spend watching TV) and in standby mode during the remaining 21 hours uses about 40% of its energy in standby mode.
Unplug your mobile charger when you’re not using it. Even when it is not connected to the phone, it is still draining electricity. There are estimates that 95% of the energy is wasted when you leave the charger plugged in all the time.
Keep cool with a fan. Air conditioners are real energy gobblers – an average room air conditioner operates at 1000 Watt, causing around 650gr of CO2 emissions per hour and costing around € 0.10 during this hour. Fans might be an alternative, otherwise use air conditioners sparingly and look for the most energy-efficient model.
Switch to green electricity. By doing so, you’ll help strengthen renewable energy sources. Currently, only 14% of Europe’s electricity is generated from climate-friendly renewable energy sources such as wind, hydro, wood, biogas, and solar – and demand creates supply! You may also want to think about fitting solar panels on the roof of your home.
Use the washing machine or dishwasher only when they are full. If you need to use it when it is half full, then use the half-load or economy setting. There is also no need to set the temperatures high. Nowadays detergents are so efficient that they get your clothes and dishes clean at low temperatures.
Use a tumble dryer only when absolutely necessary – each drying cycle produces over 3kg of CO2 emissions. Drying clothes naturally is by far the best way to do it: your clothes will last longer and the energy provided is free and non-polluting!
Boil less water. If you only boil just enough water for your cup of tea, you could help save a lot of energy. If all Europeans boiled just the water they needed, thus avoiding 1 litre of unnecessarily boiled water per day, the energy saved could power one third of Europe’s streetlights.
Cover your pots while cooking. Doing so can save a lot of the energy needed for preparing the dish. Even better are pressure cookers and steamers: they can save around 70%!
Take a shower instead of a bath. Doing so takes up to four times less energy. To maximise the energy saving, avoid power showers and use low-flow showerheads, which are cheap and provide the same comfort.
Turn off your tap. If you turn off the tap while brushing your teeth, you can save several litres of water. Also, a dripping tap can waste enough water to fill a bath in one month, so make sure to check that they’re turned off.
Please, spread the message of sasrai-Movement.
It stands for initiating at home, at own place, in own life. It stands for diversity, decentralization, tolerance, transparency, self-reliance, peace. It stands for plain, simple life, for as less as possible consumption. Its first consideration is tomorrow, the future generation, who have not spoiled a bit of this earth’s resources, the children, who have not committed any sinful act.
It stands for giving up the luxuries that spoil the earth’s resources. It stands for recycling as maximum as possible. The students, the youth, the hope of the future, can start by devising their way of serving the humanity, the planet. We encourage devising own instead of suggesting like big brother. Because, environment does not tolerate dictation.
We can share our experience. We start the initiative in our homes. The students and teachers here are encouraged to start practice in their homes, in their class rooms, in schools, and then we appeal to friends, neighbors and relatives, to the others. Till today we have taken decisions collectively, in a democratic way. We generate funds by selling used / old household items, by putting our labor. We try to walk as maximum as possible, but, obviously not at the expense of health and time.
We try to use even small pieces of land, empty pots, by planting saplings. Our preferences are vegetables, medicinal plants. We try to avoid one-time-use items. We try to switch off our electric bulbs and fans for at least one minute a day. We encourage avoiding using air conditioners. We sit with the students and teachers and they collectively decide their steps. We start in a smaller way. We try to avoid to be dominating. If any organizational structure is formed then all have to take the post of “leader” by rotation.
We do not go to donors seeking funds the overwhelming pattern of NGOs. I hope, we can talk on more functional issues in future.

Change a Light Bulb
Replacing one regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb will save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
Drive Less
Walk, bike, carpool or take mass transit more often. You’ll save one pound of carbon dioxide for every mile you don’t drive.
Recycle More
You can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half of your household waste.
Check Your Tires
Keeping your tires inflated properly can improve gas mileage by more than three percent. Every gallon of gasoline saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
Use Less Hot Water
It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Use less hot water by installing a low flow showerhead (350 pounds of CO2 saved per year) and washing your clothes in cold or warm water (500 pounds saved every year).
Avoid Products With a Lot of Packaging
You can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide if you cut down your garbage by 10 percent.
Adjust Your Thermostat
Move your thermostat down just two degrees in winter and up two degrees in summer. You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.
Plant a Tree
A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
Turn off electronic devices
Simply turning off your television, DVD player, stereo, and computer when you’re not using them will save you thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
